Many folks focus on getting bodywork while they are pregnant and often miss the opportunity for postpartum integration and bodywork. It can also be challenging (tiring) to leave the house while you are still recovering from birth. (Honestly, I only recommend it for really IMPORTANT reasons). That said, this is not your typical postpartum experience.
Moxabustion on the abdomen, providing deep heat to the uterus to help hasten the healing process
Full body “closing the bones” wrap (this feels like a tight full body swaddle to help your body feel complete after birth
Full body massage, especially the next and shoulders
Abdominal work to help turn some muscles back on, support healing
Scar tissue work (and education)
Gentle movement homework (if applicable)
Referrals to other care models (when indicated)
Wrapping your abdomen (teaching how to you do this practice at home)
Access to online resources for other postpartum care tools
Listening to your birth story, helping with questions and integration of the experience.
Usually 90 min of body work, but I block of 2 hours so we have lots of space to talk, for you to nurse if you bring the baby, etc.
It’s up to you! Some people leave babies at home so they can have some focused time for their own care. Some people bring babies on their own - though sometimes we have to take breaks for the baby to eat. Some people bring a partner, doula, friend or grandparent to hold the baby while we are in session together.
I would book it while you are still pregnant for 2 weeks after your estimated due date. I tend to book out a few weeks, so if you wait for the baby to be born, sometimes you can get in as quickly as you’d like.
Yes. Postpartum is forever. Often times we don’t integrate our birth experiences, or even know who to talk to after the birth. This session is designed to address that gap in our care.
