Birth Partner education for pregnancy, labor, and postpartum

PRACTICE UPDATE: Kate won’t be teaching any birth classes until the fall at the earliest. To find classes locally in Ithaca, reach out to Abby Thomas, or the Ithaca Doula Collective to inquire about other classes.

Birth PARTNER EDUCATION

I love working with pregnant people and their birth team to provide education for safe, at-home massage, labor support techniques and recovery tools. This can be a powerful way to feel empowered, supported, connected with your “team” and prepared for your upcoming birth.

This includes:

  • Teaching massage techniques (including belly massage)

  • Talking about pain coping strategies

  • Support with creating a Birth Plan and navigating care decisions

  • Labor support tools

  • Teaching Spinning Babies balancing techniques and Body Ready Method principles

  • Teaching the 5 primary needs of postpartum and how to facilitate that care

  • Access to online materials

FAQ:

  • Anytime, but this will probably be most relevant to your pregnancy and birth in the start of the third trimester.

  • No. A lot of the things we go over will be included in my birth classes. But if you want some one-on-one support to go over your birth plan, practice some additional techniques or needs specific to your pregnancy, this can be a great add-on.

  • YES! Even if you are in a partnership, you are welcome to bring anyone who might be included in your care team.

  • For sure! The movement component can be a little different, but we can easily tailor the content to fit an online option.
