OSTEOPATHIC-INSPIRED MASSAGE

OSTEOPATHIC INSPIRED Massage

Many of the tools that I use during our sessions together are pulled from the body-work traditions of Osteopathic Care. Let me walk though some of the science and some of the benefits and what this looks like in my practice.

Fun Facts

  • Fascia is a dynamic and conscious connective tissue that wraps everything in the body; muscles, vessels, organs, nerves and bone.

  • Muscles don’t tighten for themselves- they are usually tight to protect a joint, vessel or organ. When we release the nerves or organs, the muscles then can relax.

  • Fascia has negatively charged water (the fourth state of water beyond solid, liquid and gas), which is an immune function to block unwelcome viruses, bacteria and pathogens.

  • The body uses fascia as a method of communication that is faster than our nervous system.

  • Where you feel the pain in your body might not be where the “problem” is.

  • Fascia holds memory.

  • Organs store emotions.

  • Sometimes myofascial work is deep, but sometimes it is very light and STILL has a deep impact.

When you work directly with the muscles, without considering the fascia, organs or nerves connected to it, or how a of pull creates tension patterns within the body- the results can be good, but short lived. When you work from the root cause of the restrictions, the body is able to make bigger and longer lasting shifts. (I’ve had a therapist help with foot pain by working in my mouth. Sounds crazy; but you are all connected!)
